Problem with new Nokia Map for N95
The Nokia Maps mobile app has been downloaded over 1m times since February, but…
Nokia upgraded the map that can be used by N95. It now includes about 150 country maps. My N95 is about 6 month old so that I’d love to get some new on it. However, before me, or you, doing that, here are something you might to know.
First, report by Tony Smith from UK, the new map software have certain function removed. On the old version, you could plan a route then simply turn on ‘Start Tracking’, this would keep the GPS locked on you so you could use it to find your way around WITHOUT the voice navigation, handy to find certain roads. The voice navigation would still be required for longer trips to avoid getting lost. Um… I might not like that.
Second, Nokia gives a great and handy PC Map Loader, which will allow you pre-load the maps you might need and transfer it to your N95, rather than using the slow wireless to get the map in real time. You need to switch the data cable connection to be Data Transfer mode (or mass storage mode) when use the Map Loader. However, when I tried use it, it won’t work unless the storage card is not used by other applications on your N95. That won’t for me. I put lots of stuffs, including the Message setting, on the storage card, to make my data portable. I can’t even remember what applications are setup to use the storage card so that I can’t use the Map Loader, until going through each application to reconfigure it. That just won’t work.
What can we do, Nokia.

thanks .
Tip: Why don’t you remove the memory card from the device and put it into a card reader? That should work.
I recently upgraded the map software on my N95, and was horrified to find out that the functionality listed above was removed. I was truely angry and quite disgusted at nokias attempt to force me to pay for the functionality I don’t need. I would almost be happy to pay if the navigation saoftware wasn’t crap.
