Running Windows 3.1 on N95?!

POSTED BY Jack on Feb 26 under N95 Usage

Polish developer Marcin-PRV devoted a good day’s worth of hacking to get the so-ancient-it’s-extinct Windows 3.1 OS up and running on his Nokia N95. Just for kicks, no less.

In fact, he managed to run the Win3.1 OS alongside the Symbian S60 OS that normally powers the Nokia N95 (when it’s not cavorting around with Windows), because, you know, he just could. With help from DOSbox to emulate the x86 processor that Windows needs for a complaint-free install, Marcin-PRV proves, once again, that cellphones these days pack more power than desktop computers from just a decade ago.
