Nokia is Busy in Loading up Your N95

POSTED BY Jack on Feb 22 under N95 Software

Nokia knows better that service and software is the future of mobile space. That’s why they are buying map company and busy in the Nokia Beta Lab. Here are some of the latest products out of it.

Nokia Text Messenger

This is a widget for Windows Vista. It fetches text message from the connected phone. I don’t find it’s very useful though. But those TXT people might.

Nokia Maps 2.0 Beta

It’s about the to have new map app when Google is pushing its map app all over. This one is in beta but do has some interesting desired features. In addition to Drive - for car navigation, multimedia city guides, satellite maps and other features, it includes Walk - pedestrian navigation. I’m sure won’t take my bulky TomTom 910 with me when walking on street but my N95 will be always with me. Thanks, Nokia. By the way, it’s compatible with Nokia Map Loader so that you can pre-load the maps you need, just in case you can’t always online to download the maps.

Location Tagger

I wrote about geo tagging using ShoZu software. With Nokia Location Tagger, you can automatically tag your location data to your pictures. As you take a picture, your GPS coordinates are saved to the EXIF header of the JPEG file. You can use this data later, for example, to locate your pictures on a map. Check out my review of it.

MUPE

MUPE is an mobile playground where you can have fun with all of your friends. Just install the MUPE client on your phone and start enjoying the growing collection of MUPE games and services, such as:

all MUPE applications are online services and require an active data connection. Standard operator data charges apply.

Nokia PC Phone

I think this should be included into the PC Suite already. For people like me sitting in frond of a PC all day long, this is such a great gift from Nokia. It’s PC software and nothing needed to install on your N95. Once installed, it will running from within a browser through a odd URL like this: chrome://banana/content/html/nokia-pc-phone.html. There is connection wizard to help you get connect to your N95 via cable or bluetooth. Actually, it does prompted to install enhanced driver when I first time use it. Won’t hurt though.
